Liu Cixin's “The Mountain”, made into a feature by one person with AI
Bilibili creator 野生锅导演 single-handedly adapted Liu Cixin's short story “The Mountain” into a feature-length AI sci-fi film. Shared and recommended on X by 陳威廉.
Credit first: this film was made by the Bilibili creator 野生锅导演. The post that brought it to X is a recommendation from 陳威廉, who calls Liu Cixin's "The Mountain" his favourite of the author's short stories — and says the adaptation is genuinely good.
What stopped him, and should stop you, is the scale. One person made it by hand with AI, and the post calls it a two-hour sci-fi film; the video attached runs about 95 minutes. A two-minute AI short can be a lucky generation. A feature has to be directed: what to keep, what to cut, and how to hold characters and story together for the full running time.
"AI really is a big stage," the post says — "now an ordinary person can make a two-hour sci-fi film." This is the clearest example of that sentence in the collection.
