A CD case that opens, and it is only shaders

Ann Nguyen asked Claude Opus 5.5 for a CD jewel case with an open-lid animation. No 3D model. three.js and shaders, and she stopped because there was nothing left to ask for.

A jewel case is a memory test. Everyone knows how the lid resists, how the hinge looks cheap and correct, how the disc catches a white line of light. Ann Nguyen asked Claude Opus 5.5 for that, with an open-lid animation, and no 3D model — three.js and shaders only.

"No mesh" is the constraint that makes it a vibe-coding entry rather than a product render. The plastic has to be a material someone described in code: thickness, refraction, the little teeth. If any of those are off, the object becomes a prop from a different decade.

She says she couldn't ask for more. That is a finishing line, and finishing is the rare part. Most shader toys announce themselves. This one tries to be a CD case.

The brief was: introduce yourself.

Kevin Ngo asked Claude Fable 5 to make its own personal website. The joke is the assignment. The page is whether the model has any taste about itself.

Same sentence. The difference is the taste.

Kirill gave Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra the same brief: a 15-second motion-design showreel, go all out. He thinks looking at Astra hurts after Opus. The pair is the point.
