A bouquet that scans as a QR code
Ann Nguyen made a small three.js site that turns a flower bouquet into a working QR code. The flowers are the data. She was already deciding which one to add next.
A QR code is a constraint you can test with a phone. Ann Nguyen's little three.js site turns a bouquet into one that still works. The flowers are not decoration on top of a code. They are the code, which means every petal is a module that has to stay readable.
That is a better toy than a generative bouquet, because it can fail in public. Too pretty and the scan dies. Too strict and it is a QR code with a floral texture, which nobody needed. The narrow band in the middle is the piece.
She mentions choosing the next flower, which is the right scale of obsession. The site is small. The rule is not.
