A deep-sea robot that came back as a jellyfish
Dilum Sanjaya asked Kimi K3 to design a robot for deep-sea research. It proposed a jellyfish whose tentacles are a hexagonal lattice, built for pressure.
The brief is an engineering problem: a robot that can do research where the pressure would crush a housing. Kimi K3 answered with an animal. A jellyfish, tentacles made from a hexagonal nanostructured lattice, the shape justified as a way to take the load.
Concept design like this is easy to grade wrong. Pretty and baseless is a poster. A form that arrives with a reason — lattice, pressure, why a soft body instead of a submarine — is a design, even if nobody is machining it tomorrow.
Dilum Sanjaya asked for a robot and got a species. The entry is the argument attached to the tentacles, not the render alone.
