Charakuru: one drawing, one character model
Nano released Charakuru for free: a Tripo P2.0 and Codex kit that makes a character model from a single illustration. Tripo sponsored it.
Charakuru is a kit, not a one-off render. Nano shipped it for free: Tripo P2.0 and Codex, arranged so a single illustration becomes a character model. Tripo then sponsored it, which is a useful signal — the company whose model is inside the kit thought the wrapper was worth putting a name on.
The hard part of "image to character" is not the mesh. It is the last mile: a result someone else can rerun without reverse-engineering a thread of prompts. A free kit is that last mile, published.
Watch it as tooling. The demo is the character. The release is the point.
