Camellias, blooming across the seasons
After one visit to Melbourne’s botanic garden, Ann Nguyen built a Three.js piece that watches camellias bloom through the seasons. A plant, a year, and the patience to show both.
Ann Nguyen visited the botanic garden in Melbourne once, fell for the camellias, and built a piece to watch them bloom across the seasons. The motive is personal, which is rarer on a feed of benchmarks. The subject is a plant that does not perform on cue.
A seasonal bloom is a timing problem disguised as a flower. Bud, open, color, and the garden around it all have to change together, or the year looks like a crossfade. Three.js is the stage. The horticulture is the script.
It is worth featuring because the camera is patient. Nothing is trying to be a trailer. It is trying to be a garden you can watch change.
